The Teacher's Guide to Self-Care

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I released The Teacher’s Guide to Self-Care! At the time, I was so focused on getting it completed and out into the world (I was 8 months pregnant and really wanted to get it out before the baby!) that I wasn’t even really thinking about what would happen afterwards.

I just checked the total number of copies sold for the first time– over 4,000 copies sold! I am so touched and honored to think of 4,000 educators reading my book and learning to take care of themselves first.

I’m excited to share that it was chosen as one of the best books for teachers and school leaders for summer 2021 by Learning Ladders. Be sure to check out their full list of books here!

MassCUE and NYSCATE are also reading The Teacher’s Guide to Self-Care as part of their On The Same Page Book club, which you can check out here.

One of the most surreal book-related happenings was that an entire school district is reading my book in Central Kansas! The assistant superintendent reached out, and they are gifting my book to their whole staff during their back to school kick-off.

However, the absolute best thing has been hearing how the book has affected teachers. Parts of it are deeply personal, and while those parts were easy to write, it’s harder to think about people across the world reading them. But it’s beyond worth it when I receive a message or read a review from a teacher sharing how the book impacted them.

I love this book! It is like a good friend is giving you kind and compassionate advice. I would highly recommend every teacher buy a copy and read over and over again when things are stressful.

To those who have read, supported, and shared The Teacher’s Guide to Self-Care, I just want to say THANK YOU! This was 100% a passion project. I turned down a publishing contract and decided to self publish, which was very much a gamble. I am so honored (and honestly amazed sometimes!) that it has resonated with so many teachers.

If you’re a school, organization, or book club interested in ordering more than 20 copies, please send me an email at sarah@thedesignerteacher.com and I can set up bulk pricing for you!
